FOTD: No-Makeup...Makeup

The holidays are over and I've happily returned home to LA. Unfortunately I still seem to be running on East Coast time and my body wakes up at 7am every day! Today I managed to force a few more hours in and awoke to a text from a friend who wanted to meet for brunch. I wanted to get myself together as quickly as possible in order to meet her in a timely fashion so I slapped on some no-makeup makeup and was out the door! Well, first I snapped these quick pics for ya :)

The key to this look for me is making sure the skin looks clean and natural. I used Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer in Bisque to even out my complexion then concealed any stubborn hyper pigmentation with my Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation in 25 Nude. I just use my fingers to pin point the areas I want to cover but you can also use a small brush if you wish. I really like using this corrective liquid foundation as a concealer because it provides the coverage I want without looking like I'm slapping on clay! To bring some dimension and color back into my face I contoured with my MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Copper Beech and brushed a bit of Face Atelier Blush in Pink Satin onto my cheeks. Set it all with a little MAC Mineralized Skin Finish (Light Plus) and boom, skin done.

Brows are my next focus, can't leave home without 'em! I used my trusty Anastasia Brow Wiz in Caramel to fill in the sparse areas then brushed through with Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette. Now that my hair is a rich brown I like to use the brow gel to lighten the color of my natural brows and it helps really soften their appearance.

For the eyes, I decided to do a little more than just curl my lashes and apply mascara. I used an angled brush to apply a little bit of a rich brown shadow (Sable from the Lorac Pro Palette) along the outer corner of my eyes (upper and lower), extending it outwards to elongate their shape. That's it. Cake right? Then I used my trusty Tweezerman Eyelash Curler and applied Cover Girl LashBlast Clump Crusher which I've been trying out for the last few weeks and really loving!

Finally, on my lips I'm wearing Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipstick in BG935. It's a great sheer, beigey-pink color with a slight shimmer and has been my go-to lipstick for the last month!

Happy Weekend!

  2. Really love how "why, yes, I am this naturally drop-dead perfect," this looks, and your walk-through is clear, concise, and easy-to-follow. Will definitely be trying this for next need-to-run-errands day!

PS: any brand recommendations for foundation/concealer for the super-pale... like lighter than MAC NC15-pale? Having real trouble finding anything that isn't too dark for me.

  6. Amazing Claire, as always ! I have to say I never thought about using the Vichy dermablend as a concealer, and I didn't quite like it when I tried it as an all over foundation, but i'm definitely gonna give you method a go ! Thank you for sharing :) Xx
